Joint LCA-BRC Research Fellowship Awards

The LCA, in collaboration with The Royal Marsden BRC and the NIHR Imperial BRC, have awarded two clinical research fellows and two non-medical research fellows the opportunity to undertake 12 months of LCA research, which involve cross-site collaborations.

Over 60 projects were received following an initial call in August 2015, with 20 projects shortlisted with the help of the LCA Selection Committee. Awarded projects are expected to start within the next 3-6 months.

The successful projects are:

  • Dr Thomas Round, GP and Academic Research Fellow, King’s College London, ‘Urgent referral of persons with suspected cancer: understanding the variation in London’
  • Dr Lucy Dumas, Clinical Research Fellow, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, ‘Improving Outcomes for Older Women with Ovarian Cancer’
  • Mr Tim Hoogenboom, Research Sonographer, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, ‘Multi parametric US for the assessment and clinical management of NAFLD and HCC: a proof of concept study’
  • Mrs Denise Flett, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, ‘Development of a manualised brief cognitive behavioural (CBT) psycho-educational/psychosexual training programme for clinical nurse specialists working with women experiencing treatment-induced sexual difficulties after breast cancer’
