Improving rapid diagnosis of neck lumps

The LCA head and neck/thyroid clinical forum on 14 January had a specific focus on the development of best practice for the rapid diagnosis of patients presenting with a neck lump.

This included the presentation of the key principles for the service as proposed by the pathway group, followed by a plenary discussion about inward and onward referral routes. Contributions from attendees highlighted the success of similar models already in place across the LCA, as well as information about research within head and neck/thyroid cancer.

Speakers discussed the LCA’s strategy and priorities for research; allied health professionals and research; surgical research trials; how to improve recruitment to clinical trials and thyroid cancer research.

The presentations are available here.
