Helping people live well with and beyond cancer

The 6th LCA survivorship forum on 25 September 2014 focused on the evidence for living well with and beyond cancer, to help support those who deliver health promotion and return to work information at the end of treatment.

Formal, evidence-based presentations were interspersed by testimonials from people living with and beyond cancer who’d had personal experience of the interventions. The feedback from delegates was that the link between the evidence and the reality of the lived experience was extremely powerful and that the afternoon would enable them to make immediate changes to their practice as a result. They also felt they were clearer about the advice they could give on diet, physical activity and smoking cessation, and were more likely to speak to people about these, and about return to work.

In addition, the marketplace had stands providing information on both service development projects from within the LCA, and about local and third sector services which could be used to help staff to support people to self-manage post-cancer treatment.

The next survivorship forum is on Thursday 28 January 2015.
