Developing structures to address haematological cancers

The inaugural LCA haemato-oncology clinical forum on 20 June focused on developing and agreeing structures for the pathway group and associated sub-groups to address haematological cancers across the LCA.

Dr Majid Kazmi, LCA Haemato-oncology Pathway Group Chair, gave an overview of the priorities in haematological cancers and bone marrow transplant, and proposed a model for the structure of the pathway group and sub groups. The delegate discussion addressed a range of issues, including how to develop condition specific guidelines, how to agree appropriate metrics for haemato-oncology services, and how best to collaborate on research across the LCA.

Copies of the presentations are available here.

Feedback from the delegates has been used to refine the pathway group and sub group structures, membership and roles. Individuals will soon be invited to express their interest in participating in these groups. Please contact Michelle Bull at for more information.

The next LCA haemato-oncology clinical forum is planned for Thursday 10 October 2013.
