Involving patients and carers

Involving cancer patients and carers is critical to the design and implementation of the work of the LCA.

The aim of involving patients and carers in the work of the LCA is to:

  • Understand the patient and carer experience of cancer services to improve patient experience and outcomes
  • Address issues and areas where patients and carers have identified a need for improvement in patient experience
  • Encourage actions to improve patient experience
  • Create opportunities  to develop services innovatively
  • Ensure the voice of patients is represented in the development of services
  • Cascade information about the work of the LCA and its service developments to the wider patient community

There are various ways in which the LCA involves cancer patients and carers in its work. This could include becoming a member of a pathway group, getting involved in task and finish work groups, or providing feedback on patient elements of our clinical guidelines.
